Cisco Impact, 2023

In collaboration with Cisco and Jaguar Design Studio, Joanne Wang and Nick McBrian painted the windows of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center for the annual Cisco Impact conference in 2023, introducing a sustainable alternative to single-use window clings for large events and conventions. Through several rounds of experimentation, they formulated a paint mixture comprising of latex paint, biodegradable ingredients, and PVA glue. The paint mixture not only facilitated the creation of stunning, painterly brushstrokes but also ensured easy cleanup post-event, aligning seamlessly with environmentally conscious principles. Accompanied by a custom-built paintbrush affectionately dubbed "the Megabrush," the team executed the ambitious task of painting approximately 30 windows throughout the convention center within a tight timeframe of three days. The painting process unfolded in real-time during the conference, fostering meaningful engagement with attendees and creating dialogue around sustainable event decor practices.
